Abstract
In the first of two seminars dedicated to research agenda of Sano, I introduce motivations behind investing substantial research efforts into the development and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and computing in clinical workflows. I explain why we experience the enormous growth in popularity of AI and conceptually describe how AI works.
I use screening mammography as an example of the application of AI in medicine. A vision of the future of healthcare and what needs to be done to reach this vision concludes the seminar.
